The Interview Cams panel manages the camera sources on the Interview scene graphic, and is a fairly straightforward tool. The dropdown list manages the number of cameras on the scene, supporting up to six. The graphic will dynamically change based on the number of cameras used. The number set will also generate a button on the panel for each camera. Clicking a camera button will do two things:
Will copy to your clipboard the URL for a VDO.Ninja capture page. You should go to this page on a new browser tab (or send it to the person who is appearing in the interview) and set up your webcam and microphone on it.
Gives instructions to the intermission graphic to display the same VDO.Ninja's stream view of the same URL. Your webcam and microphone will then be broadcast on the graphic. You don't need to add anyone's mics or webcams to OBS, they are all captured from the Interview graphic.
The stream URL advises the aspect ratio that VDO.Ninja needs to capture based on the number of cams being used. Specifically, the aspect ratio for 2-3 cams is different from the others. This aspect ratio is set when the button is clicked, meaning that if for example you have 4 cams selected and set up, and then you drop down to 3, the aspect ratios of those cams will be incorrect, as they'll still be set for 4 cams. The video on the right shows what this looks like. To correct this, you'll need to click the cam buttons again and redistribute your URLs.Â
This limitation does mean that you're not really able to change the number of cameras in the middle of an interview (unless you're swapping between 1 or 4-6 cams). If you find that being able to swap the number of cams mid interview would be useful, please let Nick know, as if there's a wider need for it then it's worth changing the 2/3 layout to be the same aspect ratio.
Each camera feed on the graphic also includes a box underneath it for the interviewee's name and pronouns. These are taken from the run editor just like any other run, so you will need to ensure your interview is included in the speedcontrol run schedule.
It's worth noting that none of these VDO.Ninja cams are linked, but due to VDO.Ninja having incredibly low latency, there should be no need to sync them. As there is no VDO.Ninja room to all join and hear each other, it's still worth being in a Discord call together to converse. Alternatively you can share your VDO.Ninja stream URL with other participants and get them to change the word "push" in the URL to "view", and then remove the extra parameters. For example:
If your stream URL is:
https://vdo.ninja/?push=wfbj8vfkemr&quality=1&audiodevice=1&webcam&aspectratio=1.7777777777777777
Then others can watch your stream at:
https://vdo.ninja/?view=wfbj8vfkemr
There are planned updates for the future to create rooms to make it easier for participants to see and hear each other.
